ISVs - 3 Trends to Consider with the Rise of Digital Payments

Studies show that when using biometric payments and other micropayment options, consumers are willing to make larger payments or make smaller purchases more regularly from their mobile devices, increasing merchants’ profits.

This is why ISVs must keep trends in consumers’ digital payment preferences in mind when designing new solutions.

According to the Worldpay 2015 Future of Digital Payments report, developers should take these three trends into consideration:

  • Location: Rising economies, such as India and China, are more likely to purchase social content than established economies like the U.S. For example, 28 percent of respondents in India have invested in paid social media services, while only 12 percent of U.S. respondents have.
  • Payment method: Overall, credit/debit cards are the most popular payment methods used for buying tech and software content. Online wallets are a close second, followed by mobile payments.
  • Billing model: More than one-third of consumers prefer one-off payment billing for digital technology goods and services because it helps them stay in control of their finances. According to the study, this billing method is expected to become the most popular choice for consumers in the near future.

As an example, only 22% of people currently use ewallet for payments. Worldpay projects that in the near future 52% of people globally will be buying digital goods and services with an ewallet. ISVs & VARs Must be QIR Certified by March 31, 2016

VISA has recently announced a new mandate that will affect installations via software vendors during 2016 and beyond. The mandate is intended to improve security for payments.

The Qualified Integrators & Resellers course provides an opportunity for eligible professionals of qualifying organizations to receive training and qualification on the secure installation of Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS)-validated payment applications into merchant environments in a manner that facilitates PCI Data Security Standard compliance.

Numerous breach investigations have shown that incorrect installation and/or maintenance of payment applications creates opportunities for merchant networks to be compromised. Integrators and resellers play a key role in the payments ecosystem, as merchants depend on these service providers to install, configure, and/or maintain their validated applications. This program outlines guiding principles and procedures for the secure installation and maintenance of validated payment applications in a manner that supports PCI DSS compliance.

This applies to you if you’re an integrator or reseller that sells, installs, and/or services PA-DSS validated payment applications on behalf of software vendors or others. The course will also benefit payment application software developers. Typical job titles include: Software Integrator, Reseller, Implementer, Installer, Technician, Developer, or Engineer.


Some of the highlights of this requirement include:

  • Each ISV / Reseller that installs POS systems that accepts payments via the POS will be required to have a certified QIR
  • Start date March 31 2016 (FAST APPROACHING!)
  • Training can be completed via “e-learning” course (6 hour)
  • An exam is required once training is completed
  • The process first requires your company to be approved.... then the designated individual can sign up for training

  • Each ISV / Reseller that installs POS systems that accepts payments via the POS will be required to have a certified QIR 
  • Start date is March 31, 2016
  • Training can be completed via “e-learning” course (6 hour)
  • An exam is required once training is completed        
  • Special pricing is provided through Novera as long as you register prior to January 31, 2016 ($75.00 vs $375.00)
  • The process first requires your company to be approved, then the designated individual can sign up for training

Introducing No Scope - Simple Payment Integration

Attention ISVs : Looking for Simple Payment Integration?

No Scope is a simple, customizable, and scaleable solution for software vendors looking to easily integrate payments with Worldpay. No Scope is comprised of two Integrated POS solutions. No Scope .DLL and No Scope SDK. In each case the terminals have been coded for EMV, swipe, debit, EBT, gift and loyalty, as well as the ability to completely customize the terminal screens.

ISV Payment Integration

No Scope WIN.DLL

No Scope .DLL is a easy to install and allows the Software Vendor to code the merchant system to communicate with Ingenico 250, 350 and 480 devices as well as VeriFone 915 and 925 devices. All
of these devices are designed to support retail, medical, B2B and other customer facing checkout environments. The API supports a USB, RS232 and LAN network environment. The .DLL enables the coder to complete design and deploy in minutes their own EMV marketing screens on these devices.


No Scope SDK

No Scope SDK is a simple API that allows the Software Vendors to code the merchants system PAX D210/D200 BCM , S80 LAN and S90 CDMA GPRS terminals. Our D210 and D200 terminals are specifically designed to support Pay at the Table, Tablets, Smart Phones and Mac. The API supports a Wi-Fi network environment using a WPA encryption for security reasons, and allows local and cloud communication between the device and the POS system.


Gateway Connections

The actual transaction-processing environment goes from the Payment Terminal to the WorldPay Link Gateway utilizing a SSL network implementation. This is all done for the Software Vendors, meaning all you have to do is code the connection to the hardware via a simple SDK or .DLL and design the flow and marketing screen on the terminal UI.
